Bite Size Learning - New Year/New Menu Program

Dr. Shelley Stanko from Saint Joseph-London KentuckyOne Health is the featured speaker for the January Bite Size Learning session. She will speak about making healthier food choices when planning meals. Topics will include healthy grocery shopping, food preparation, recipe alterations, and much more. This program will take place in the auditorium at the Laurel County Public Library on Tuesday, January 30 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Bite Size Learning is an educational, free lunch series brought to you by Saint Joseph- London KentuckyOne Health and the Laurel County Public Library. Registration is required and the deadline to register is noon on Monday, January 15 in order to allow the hospital time to prepare box lunches. Your Best Job Ever Program

Job hunting? Learn how to highlight your best features during the “Your Best Job Ever” series of four workshops taking place in January and February at the Laurel County Public Library. The series was designed to help you get the job you deserve. This program series is a LEAF project, a joint effort between the library, Laurel County Adult Education and Literacy, and the Cumberlands Workforce Development Area.

Session one was held on Monday, January 22. Session two entitled “Your Best Resume Ever” will take place on Monday, January 29 and will include information concerning making your resume stand out in the stack with tips from our pros.

Information about the two February sessions will be provided closer to the time they will occur in February.

All programs in the series will take place in the library’s Community Room from 10-11 a.m. One-on-one help will be available afterward until noon.

Learn to Play Mah Jongg Program

Come learn the basics of Mah Jongg, a game of skill, strategy, and chance with some similarities to Rummy, but played with 152 tiles rather than cards. Please note this is not the computer tile-matching game.

The program will take place on Thursday, January 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the library’s Kentucky Room. Participants need to be age 18 or older.

Puzzle Building

Come to the Laurel County Public Library on Friday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m. for jigsaw puzzle building, conversation, and snacks.  Several large puzzles will be available to work on in groups.

Come in out of the cold and enjoy the warmth of fun and friendship.
