Gov. Steve Beshear appointed James E. Holbert to serve as a member of the Kentucky Airport Zoning Commission.

The appointment replaces Joseph K. Jarboe, who has resigned. Holbert shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 8, 2008.

The six-member commission issues orders, rules and regulations pertaining to the protection and the encouragement of the use of land within and around airports and their facilities.

Holbert is an emergency medical service helicopter pilot for AirMethods Kentucky. He previously served as an air station supply department head for the U.S. Coast Guard and a staff officer for the U.S. Army. He received his Bachelors of Natural Science from the University of Tennessee.

He said was “very pleased” with the honor.

Holbert and his wife, Cynthia, live in London.
