A London teen was arrested Friday after allegedly stealing from a Corbin business and then brandishing a gun when confronted by a store employee.
Cameron M. Brummett, 19, was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery later Friday afternoon when law enforcement allegedly found Brummett in possession of the stolen items.
At approximately 1:40 p.m. Knox County Deputy Sam Mullins responded to a reported robbery at the B & H Shoe Store on US 25 E in Corbin. During his investigation, Deputy Mullins learned that a white male had walked out of B & H Shoes with two items of clothing that he did not pay for.
A store employee confronted the man outside the business and asked for the items to be returned. The man allegedly brandished a handgun and told the employee that he would not give anything back.
At approximated 3:05 p.m. the man was stopped by Laurel County deputies on the London Highway at Farriston. Deputy Mullins met them at that location and took possession of Brummett. At the time of his arrest, Brummett was allegedly wearing the two items taken, a shirt and hat. The handgun used in the robbery could not be located.
Brummett was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond with a May 21 court date.
