It was the ultimate dress-up evening for North Laurel High School students and staff last Saturday night.

The annual junior-senior prom brought out the best of the best in dress as students gathered at the London Community Center - many to celebrate their last high school dance before graduation exercises set for June 1.

This year's theme was "A Black Tie Affair" and the outfits dotting the parking area and downtown London left nothing short of that goal. While black is always a popular selection of dresses, blue and green also dominated the attire of the females while the males donned black and white tuxedoes offset with colored vests and bow ties.

This is the first year that North Laurel High has held its prom off the school campus - one student explained the change was due to recent renovations in the school's gymnasium, where the prom is usually held, to the community center due to the difficult task of decorating for the event.

The change of location did not deter the parents and other family members from convening around the community center or sitting across Main Street to get a glimpse - and pictures - of their teens lining up under the tented entrance into the meeting room that was transformed into a ballroom.
