Less than a week after the Laurel County Grand Jury returned an indictment against him on rape and sodomy charges, Phillip Lee Trebino is in jail following his arrest on the indictment warrant.
Kentucky State Police Detective Stacey Anderkin arrested Trebino Wednesday afternoon, charging him with four counts of first-degree sodomy, 22 counts of second-degree sodomy, three counts of first-degree rape and 21 counts of second-degree rape. Anderkin said she received an anonymous tip that Trebino would be at the Laurel Cookie Factory in London. He was later taken into custody there.
“He had gone to pick up his paycheck,” Anderkin said.
The indictment states over a two year period between the summer of 2004 and October 2006, Trebino engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a child. Anderkin declined to specify Trebino’s relationship with the child in an effort to protect the child’s identity. She would only say that the child and Trebino are not family members.
The first charges list the child as being under 12 and the last charges list the child as under 14.
Trebino is scheduled to be arraigned in Laurel Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Monday.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Danny Evans said because the child was under 12 when the first incident allegedly took place that charge is a class A felony, which carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.
Officials at the Laurel County Detention Center said Trebino is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
