A Laurel County man died Monday after wrecking a tractor-trailer loaded with landfill garbage in Knott County.
According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police, Chester Smith, 46, of London, was driving the 2001 Peterbilt owned by Watco LLC of Somerset when he veered off Ky. 15 at about 8:35 a.m.
The truck hit a guardrail and overturned.
Smith, who was not wearing a seat belt, was trapped inside. He was pronounced dead after being extricated by Letcher Fire and Rescue and the Vicco/Sassafras Fire Department.
