A Jeep Liberty is flipped on its side, its roof cut off, after a woman lost control of the vehicle. The woman and her 16-month-old son were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center.

A mother and her 16-month-old son are in the hospital after crashing on the side of Interstate 75 Monday.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Richie Baxter said Donna Majewski, 37, of Temperance, Mich., was driving southbound past the weigh station when her Jeep Liberty caught on gravel on the left side of the highway. Majewski overcompensated for her error, lost control and her truck flipped onto its roof.

The Laurel County Fire Department responded first and got to work getting the baby out of the car. To get Majewski out, the roof of the Jeep needed to be cut off. The London-Laurel County Rescue Squad aided the fire department in that effort, which took less than 10 minutes.

Both Majewski and her son were conscious by the time first responders arrived on scene. They were transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center.

Majewski was wearing her seat belt and her son was strapped in his child safety seat.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected.

Baxter was assisted at the scene by KSP Trooper Barry Blair, Laurel County Fire Department, the Rescue Squad, Kentucky Weapons of Mass Destruction/HAZMAT Task Force 11 and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
