South Middle eighth-grader Blake Sanders tries to pass around two McCreary Central players.

The South Middle Cardinals were clicking on all cylinders in all three age groups on Thursday night as they swept the visitors from McCreary County with a total score of 187-64.

The 6th grade Cardinals opened the show with an impressive first quarter and cruised in a blowout win over Whitley City 82-11.

The Cardinals dominated the first quarter pouring in 33 points including 12 points from Joe Gaines. Gaines finished with 16 points during a short day at the office.

The Cardinals led 43-7 at the half and never let up as several players took advantage of their time on the court. Aaron Quinn added seven points in the second quarter. Quinn finished with 13 points on the night.

Daniel Neal and Tanner Bell both chipped in 10 points while Austin Hayes added seven. The Cardinals finished with several assist on the night.

In the second game the 7th grade Cardinals also jumped out to a big lead and held on for the 53-29 win over McCreary Central.

Trevor Grubb jump started the Cardinals offense with 11 points in the first quarter to grab an 18-4 advantage. Grubb led all scores with 19 points on the night.

The Cardinals led 30-11 at the half and pulled out to a 51-24 advantage by the end of the third quarter. Logan Helton finished with 11 points on the night while John Helton added six.

The 8th grade Cardinals struggled to get going offensively, but put together a solid second half to pull away with a 52-24 victory over McCreary Central.

The Cardinals held on to a 8-2 lead after one quarter of play with a couple nice assist from Blake Sanders. The second quarter was just a little more of the same as they managed to hold a 19-11 advantage.

Sanders picked up the scoring load in the third quarter with six points to go along with several assist to grab a 33-15 lead. Jason Mitchell added four points in the quarter. Sanders, David Byrd, and Mitchell led the Cardinals with eight points a piece. Matthew Slavey added seven points while Austin Rader chipped in six.

The Cardinals pulled together and outscored the Raiders 33-13 in the second half. The Cardinals led 38-21 with 3:28 remaining in the game, but put on a 14-3 run to close it out. Sanders found Byrd at the top of the key for an open three-pointer and Mitchell added four straight points before Zack Jones topped off the win with a three-pointer.
