For the second game in a row, the South Laurel Cardinals held their opponents under 30 points as the Cards rolled past Bell Co. 55-28 Tuesday evening.
Lauren Wombles led the Cardinals with 10 points, all in the first half of play. She scored six of South Laurel’s 15 first quarter points as her team built a 15-7 lead.
A 13-4 second quarter upped the advantage to 28-11 at the half.
Jamie Shepherd led Bell Co. with 13 points, including three treys.. Morgan Johnson had eight points for South, while Porsha Justice, Jessica Dean and Erica Burchett all added seven points. Burchett and Tish Walker drained threes in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals.
For South, it was their sixth win in their last seven games.
South Laurel traveled to face district foe Corbin last night, and will host Jackson Co. tonight.
The junior varsity also won, 43-18, as Macy Clontz led the way with 12 points.
