Corbin's Madison Johnson puts pressure on North Laurel's Josh Tiller.

A sudden change in temperature usually results in sickness and that’s what happened to North Laurel on Tuesday night as they started the game hot, but turned cold and suffered a 64-42 loss to the Corbin Redhounds.

“I think we have a very talented bunch of kids,” North Laurel assistant coach Greg Parrett said. “When they put their minds to it they can play with anybody in the region, but they are going to have to put four good quarters together.”

The hot hand of Josh Seidel helped pace the Jaguars early as he scored seven points in the first quarter to give his team a 13-8 advantage. Seidel finished with 17 points on the night.

The Jaguars (13-8) were clinging to a 16-15 lead when Deke Barley heated up for the Redhounds. Barley drained a three-pointer and followed up with a three point play to give the visitors a 21-16 advantage with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter. Barley finished with 13 points on the night.

“They came out in the second quarter and were more aggressive,” Parrett said. “When teams do that we are going to have to step up and meet that challenge. We need some kids to get more physical and more aggressive out on the floor.”

Josh Crawford scored the final four points of the second quarter to give the Redhounds (16-6) a 30-20 advantage at the half. Crawford, who had missed most of the season with a knee injury, finished with 11 points on the night.

The Jaguars found themselves trailing 39-20 with 4:58 remaining and put on an 8-0 run to close the gap at 39-28 with 2:59 remaining in the third quarter, but that was as close as it would get. Nick Shannon finished with nine points on the night.

The Redhounds were led by sophomore point guard Isaac Wilson. Wilson connected on 4 of 6 three-pointers and finished with 15 points on the night. The Redhounds shot 50 percent from outside the arc, while the Jaguars only connected on 3 of 17.

North Laurel will travel to face South Laurel tonight.
