North Laurel's Nick Shannon came up big in the Ripley Invitational, scoring 41 points in two Jaguar wins.

RIPLEY, OH—Nick Shannon turned up huge for North Laurel during their stay in the Ripley Invitational, scoring 41 points in both Jaguar victories.

North Laurel opened play in the Ripley Invitational with a 67-52 win over Hillcrest (Ohio) last Thursday. Shannon led four Jaguars in double figures with 19. Anthony Trabish added 17, and Josh Seidel and Shawn Asher each added 12.

The Jaguars trailed 15-14 after one, but came back to take a 33-28 lead at the half. North took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Hillcrest (3-5) 18-7 to hold a 51-35 advantage going into the final quarter of action.

In North’s second game, Shannon tossed in 22 points as the Jaguars downed host Ripley, 70-64.

The Jags trailed big at the end of one, 15-4, but got back on track to outscore Ripley 17-13 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 28-21 at the half.

A 26-15 third quarter by the Jags allowed North to take the lead, 47-43, going into the final quarter of action, where North hung on for the 70-64 win.

Seidel added 17, while Asher chipped in with 11 for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars will now host Clark County Friday night.
