The South Laurel boys’ golf team has had two meets recently, beating Williamsburg but falling to Corbin.

On Aug. 18, South Laurel took on Corbin at the London Country Club, falling in a close match, 166-164. Tyler Royster shot the low round for South with a 39. He received one point toward the conference player of the year for being the medalist in the match.

“Our conference is new this year,” coach Shawn Overbey said. “It is the Southeast Kentucky Golf Conference, and is made up of Clay Co., Corbin, Jackson Co., North Laurel, Pulaski Co., South Laurel, Whitley Co. and Williamsburg. We are going to have a regular season champion, regular season medalists (three spots), conference tournament team champion, and conference tournament medalists (three spots). The players earn points through the regular season and tournament toward player of the year status.”

On Aug. 11, South beat Williamsburg, 171-187. Tyler Barton had the low round for South with a 39.
